Possibly the shortest blog ever

The main thing that struck me during the presentation was how Dave deals with job vacancies. Dave's argument states that applicants should ring before and after their CV is sent in for him to even bother looking at it. He considers a good portfolio that should include a wide range of commercial skills, better than a degree in web design.

Another main note I took was how awkward clients can be. Good designers should not get attached to their work, because at the end of the day it's the client that has the final say.

I guess the only thing we can get from clients (apart from money) is experience in dealing with them. Yes some clients are going to be awkward but the experience we get there will help with the next.

Can I also say well done on getting up and showing your work. Your print work was really good. I wish I had now but nerves got the better of me.

Agree with Chris, well done on getting up. You supprised me aswell.

I really wanted to but kept getting beat to it, and to be honest I never had the balls to go first, when everyone was quite. A chance to impress was missed I guess, shame really.

I agree with Chris too, clients are the ones that are going to be benefiting from our work in the end so its only fair that the work that we do for them is to the design that they want. As you create more and more designs, you'll suddenly learn how most clients react to your work and will eventually find a style which you can stick with.

thanks for standing up and showing your work!

Cheers guys. That presentation went horribly. I should of been more prepared but in my defence I wasn't expecting a full on presentation.

I have done very little client work in my time, and the one I had for my previous course wasn't too much trouble. I guess every client has their own personality.

After watching the other three show their work I was really put off as their work was much better than mine but I promised myself I would start trying harder this year.

I atleast hope that my work was inspiring

I think you are defintely right about detaching from your work. This was one of the main points that both Gemma and Oliver stressed so being able to do this will be beneficial for the future

Just realised is there any reason why on your links list Craig B has a blogger and we just have blogs?

I'm glad you noticed that Chris. It must have been that all along but i've never noticed it before. I will change it straight away. Nice spotting
