Design, Design, Design

Ive been unable to scan my designs into the computer as I have no scanner available to me, so the only other option was to create digital views of each of my sketches. The images will, of course, be replaced with photographs that suite the site.

Hi Marc, I still think that the first sports team design is the most appropriate, it may look better without the medal though if the silhouette of the sports team was bigger. I also think that it would look effective with a sports field as the background for the header along with the silhouette.

I think the second design with the olympic torch and the trophy would be appropriate in other areas but as this is a generic sports team it may not be suitable. It may work if the torch is removed and more emphasis is given to the torch though.

I like the first design for the nursery with the balloons in the background, if we could get a suitable font for the header section this could be a good design.

I prefer the second design for the nursery though with the crayons and the crayon font. I think having them all down the side of the page might be a bit too much though and think if we just included 2 or 3 in the header section along with the crayon type font may be better.

Ok cheers. remember that these images will be replaced by real photo's tho. They look a little unprofessional at this stage and are still in the area of progress. The header I have created already in an art program I use. Hopefully it is sufficient.

Ill narrow the choices down tomorrow and then the final feedback can take place before i create the final screen design's that Steve requires.

Hi Marc, I think you have done a good job in getting some ideas digitised so quickly.

I like the last sports design and maybe the links at the top could be different sports balls/equipment. I do like the idea of the silhouette in the first sports image and would agree with Ben that it could be bigger in the final designs.

I like the colour scheme used in the first nursery idea pastel blue and light pink, I immediately think of children/babies which is perfect for a nursery. I like the diagonal shape of the crayons in the second image it looks more child like but as Ben has pointed out maybe there could be less crayons which would make it look a lot neater. I think its a good thing to look child like but not too messy because although it is advertising a nursery our target audience would really be mums and dads so a very clean layout would be what I would aim for.

I still think school gates could be included in the design somewhere because this may give the impression on security and safety this would appeal to parents. I would also use grass as a background for the sports website just like we discussed in lesson, because this would suit most sports that are outside and give the site a fresh, natural feel.

Apart from the baby designer mistake of uploading bitmaps instead of jpegs/gifs then very good indeed.

Personally I think the third nursery one stands out the most. Though the idea of the first is also quite good.

As for the sports ones, the first is probably the best as it is the least biased in ways of the actual sports team. I would make the medal smaller though to allow for more space for content as apposed to it all being cramped together and right against the edges.

I'm in agreement with Ben, the first sports design has the most potential for me. Just be careful of the size that you put that medal when you get it; too big and it's going to overshadow the content, too small and it will seem meaningless.

Maybe you could have a nice vertical navigation integrating the medal in some way?

Also don't forget to get some feeling of motion in there somehow for the sports site, maybe sketchbook some ideas of slanted images, italicized text or something similar.

I love the nursery idea with the crayons, I think that one has real potential.

It should be good to see what you come up with. Good luck. Looks like you've put some hard work in there.

Ok thanks for the feedback. I will be making some major changes to some of the layouts, and completely removing others from my ideas.

I agree Craig (B) that the crayon idea has great prtential. Before making my mind up about whether it should just be for the header or maybe implement it into some sort of navigation. I feel that we can only tell when we have found/created a suitable image.

I will also think about having some sort of gate aswell, I feel that it is important to show tha parent's that their children are in safe hands!

The field background will also be thought about, and like with the crayons, depending on the image we could use it in just the header or as an actual website background image. Choices choices!

Once agani, thanks for the feedback.
